A tourist complains, a pilgrim says thank you

It was on the first night on The Way when I heard this quote. It was a lady from Ohio who was on her pilgrimage for the second time, a seasoned walker. We were having our pilgrim meal when another group were complaining to the manager about a mix up in their meal orders. The owner was very apologetic about the error and offering them complimentary desserts, however these lady's would not let it go! In a quiet voice the pilgrim from our table simply says "a tourist complains, a pilgrim says thank you". Since then I have always said "thank you"!

Tonight is my last night on the road. Starting the day with an early mist (something like Spooky Hollow) that did not clear until lunch, it was a pleasant mornings walk. More hills, cows, corn and dogs. It was a day to reflect as many of the pilgrims I'd met along the way were completing their walk today, however I'm taking it easy and walking in on Sunday. I'm currently having dinner in a converted farm that has a beautiful babbling creek running along side the spacious grounds.

I'm looking forward to seeing Santiago de Compostela but also going to miss the solitude and unexpected sightings each day (like hiking shoes in monuments and rows of beer bottles adorning a cafe). My pilgram passport is nearly complete, just 2 more stamps required.

Until tomorrow....
